“Children from Mountain Areas Chasing Dreams in Shanghai” — Report on the visit of Jinzhai Study Tour Group to Shanghai organized by Huabao “Flower Growth Plan”
2025/08/13
On August 4, 2025, a group of 18 teachers and students from the Jinzhai Teenager Study Tour Group (hereinafter referred to as the "Study Tour Group") organized by the “Flower Growth Plan” of Huabao Flavours & Fragrances Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huabao" or the "Company")arrived in Shanghai, embarking on a five-day summer study tour (hereinafter referred to as the "Study Tour"). Thirteen students from Jinzhai County, Anhui Province, alongside their chaperoning teachers, members of the Jinzhai Dispatched (Shanghai) Association, and volunteers from Huabao participated in the Study Tour. On-site visits and interactive learning allowed them to experience the charm of the city and ignited their dreams.
Opening ceremony: dreams took flight
That afternoon, the Study Tour Group held a brief yet heartwarming opening ceremony at Huabao Shanghai Industrial Park. Ms. CHEN Jing, Chairman of the Trade Union Federation of Huabao Shanghai Industrial Park, leaders from the Jinzhai County Education Bureau, and the Jinzhai Dispatched (Shanghai) Association respectively delivered speeches expressing their high hopes for the children. A student representative also shared their anticipation for the Study Tour. Representatives from the Jinzhai County Charity Association and relevant schools attended the event. Subsequently, volunteers led the Study Tour Group in safety training and ice-breaking games, which brought everyone closer together amidst laughter and joy, helping the children relax and integrate into the group.
The Study Tour: harvest and growth
During the Study Tour, the children visited Huabao’s exhibition hall and R&D building. Huabao’s volunteer team meticulously planned popular science classes and small interactive experiments for the children, allowing them to intuitively and systematically understand Huabao’s business and development through listening, smelling, and tasting. They also visited the Volvo Cars R&D Center and the Donghai Research Station of the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, marveling at the advanced automotive industry and China’s innovative achievements in acoustics. At the Shanghai World Expo Museum and Shanghai Natural History Museum, the children engaged in dialogues with diverse civilizations and encountered the mysteries of life, sparking a strong thirst for knowledge. Strolling along the Huangpu River at the Bund, with the skyscrapers of Lujiazui on one side and the century-old architectural corridor of the Bund on the other, they witnessed a dialogue across time and space, which left them in awe.
Moreover, on the tree-lined campus paths of Fudan University and in front of the centennial celebration monument of Jiao Tong University, some children quietly clenched their fists – implying that a seed named “I want to get in here” was quietly sprouting in their young hearts. On the last morning of the Study Tour, the children visited the underwater museum at Guangfulin Relics Park. As sunlight filtered through the glass dome onto the 6,000-year-old pottery shards and rice fossil remains, they couldn’t help but marvel that Shanghai’s roots lay beneath the water, just like their dreams taking root in the soil - the deeper the roots, the higher the tree could grow.
Heartwarming details: love and companionship
Huabao volunteers prepared study packs for each student, containing cultural T-shirts, sun hats, umbrellas, wet wipes, tissues, paper, and pens -practical items for learning and daily life. The chaperoning teachers insisted on bed checks every evening to ensure safety, while the accompanying staff provided full protection and responded to urgent needs throughout the Study Tour. On the last day of the Study Tour, the children wrote on the Study Tour Postcards, expressing their gratitude to Huabao and the kind, lovely people they had met, as well as their blessings and dreams.
Successful conclusion: sowing seeds of hope, blooming brilliant flowers
On the afternoon of August 8, 2025, the Study Tour Group boarded the return train. Although the five-day journey was short, it sowed seeds of dreams in the children’s hearts. Carrying the cool morning breeze of the Dabie Mountains and the shining stars lit up by the Huangpu River, they filled their eyes, washed bright by mountain springs, with the outlines of skyscrapers and clenched their hands, still covered in soil, tightly around the blueprint for their future. When the mountain breeze and sea tide converge in the young lives, those deeply buried seeds would eventually break through the rocks and bloom into flowers in the clouds; those deeply rooted flowers would eventually bloom all over the mountains in their own season.
