ESG initiatives| essential materials enabled every employee to master first aid skills

In early June, 2024, Huabao Flavours & Fragrances Co., Ltd. (“Huabao” or “Company”) officially elevated the ESG work to a strategic level, highlighting the importance of ESG work from a strategic height, and demonstrating Huabao’s firm determination to practice ESG work. In terms of employee care in the ESG work, Huabao has worked together with the Company’s trade union to promote the implementation of various measures and yield fruit. The Company has held a variety of cultural and sports activities such as family day, staff outdoor activities and fun sports games, carried out various handicraft courses such as flower arrangement, lotus lamp and aromatherapy, and organized medical and health activities such as vision examination and Chinese medicine lectures, and the “CPR AED & First Aid” training activities. All these have effectively adjusted the tense pace of work, secured the physical and mental health and life safety of employees in an all-round and multi-angle way, and enhanced the sense of belonging and happiness of employees.

In order to create peaceful and safe scenarios for employees, Huabao successively carried out the “CPR AED & First Aid” training at Huabao Shanghai Industrial Park, Yingtan production base in Jiangxi, and Ji’an production base in Jiangxi from June 26, 2024 to June 28, 2024. The full name of CPR is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and the full name of AED is Automated External Defibrillator. The Company invited international certified professional first aid training instructors to give on-site lectures. A total of more than 90 employees from Huabao Shanghai Industrial Park, Yingtan Huabao Flavours & Fragrances Co., Ltd. (“Yingtan Huabao”), Jiangxi H&K Food Technology Development Co., Ltd. (“Jiangxi H&K”) and Jiangxi Yifang Rural Technology Co., Ltd. (“Jiangxi Yifang”) participated in the one-day training and passed the on-site assessment.

Accidents and emergencies may threaten people’s health and life safety in daily work and life. The training aims to effectively enhance the public awareness of first aid, improve the emergency handling ability of employees, so that more can learn and master the necessary first aid knowledge and skills, cope calmly in emergencies, and minimize the harm and reduce losses to the greatest extent. In recent years, Huabao has launched the “CPR AED & First Aid” training many times, and carried out targeted emergency management training according to different regions, including airway foreign-body obstruction treatment, infant airway obstruction treatment, trauma dressing treatment, fracture treatment, heat stroke treatment, hypothermia treatment, nosebleed treatment, snake bite treatment and other out-of-hospital emergency treatment methods and countermeasures.

The training instructors explained in detail the importance and fundamentals of CPR and demonstrated the correct rescue procedures. Through their presentation, employees learned the urgency of performing CPR within the golden four minutes and the importance of staying calm and following the procedures.

In the practice session, the instructors gave a demonstration with the simulation model, and then the staff practiced in groups. Under the guidance of the instructors, everyone practiced CPR and AED, which further consolidated the knowledge learned. Furthermore, the instructors also explained the specific treatment methods for common first aid situations, and guided the staff to take actions. A one-to-one assessment was also carried out on site for all the participating employees.

The training was well received by the staff. Participants said that the training not only allowed them to master basic first aid skills, but also enhanced their self-confidence in the face of emergencies. Employees hoped that the Company could organize similar training regularly, thus improving the first aid ability of more colleagues, and adding a guarantee for the safety management of the enterprise.

In addition to the training of first aid knowledge and the standardization and improvement of the first aid skills, the Company has also equipped two AED devices in Huabao Shanghai Industrial Park, the R&D Building, Yingtan Huabao, Jiangxi H&K and Jiangxi Yifang. Each AED device is equipped with a matching first aid kit and medical kit to fully protect the health and life safety of employees.
