Public Charity Action in 2019 – Huabao Flavours & Fragrances’s Presence in Jiuquan, Gansu

The cold weather in November sweeps over a stretch of hills in Hexi Corridor covered with snow, while Jiuquan City to the west of the corridor sees the arrival of a frosty and cold winter, but is touched and nourished by the love and warmth delivered from several benevolent enterprise members of China Association of Fragrance Flavour and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI) from all over the country.

The donation ceremony of “CAFFCI Schoolbag Public Benefit Activity in Gansu 2019” was held in Jiuquan, Gansu on November 1st, with the presence of and speeches by government officials in Jiuquan City and Suzhou District led by HU Xiaohua, member of the Standing Committee and leader of the United Front Work Department of Jiuquan City, and the attendance of and addresses from representatives of 30 benevolent enterprises in flavour and fragrance industry led by Ms. FENG Rui, Deputy Secretary General and Director of General Information Department of CAFFCI. Over 7,000 schoolbags and school supplies have been donated through the activity, which has taken place at Jiuquan No. 7 Junior High School, Central Primary School of Shangba County in Suzhou District of Jiuquan, Central Primary School of Huajian County and Sandun Central Primary School. Ms. YUAN Xiaoqin, Vice Chairman of CAFFCI and President of Huabao Flavours & Fragrances Co., Ltd., and Mr. YANG Cheng, General Manager of Lhasa Huabao, attended and addressed the activity on behalf of Huabao Flavours and Fragrances.

As a significant gateway on the ancient Silk Road and a hub on the economic belt along the new Silk Road to connect Asia and Europe, Jiuquan is embraced by Altun Mountains, Qilian Mountain and Mazong Mountain to the west of Hexi Corridor at the northwest side of Gansu Province, and named after wine-like spring in the city. There is a long history and splendid culture in Jiuquan, home to Dunhuang art and birthplace of modern aerospace technologies, petroleum and nuclear industries in new China.

Huabao Flavours & Fragrances Co., Ltd. has, since its establishment, always been dedicated to public benefits and involved in various activities to assist the impoverished students, the physically challenged and underprivileged, in response to the call by the government and society. For instance, in December 2016, it attended “Love Wristband Brings Me Home” anti-lost activity in Shanghai; in July 2017, it launched “Huabao Benevolent Actions” themed activity and donated schoolbags, books and stationery to all primary school students in Qushui County of Lhasa; in July 2018, it invested RMB 370,000 to buy high-quality cows and renovate dairy farms at Guba Village, Naqu, Tibet. As the Deputy Chairman Unit of CAFFCI, Huabao Flavours and Fragrances have taken an active part in the benevolent activities organized by the Association, such as “Love Schoolbag and School Uniform” donation activity in Yanchuan, Shaanxi in November 2018.
