Drive the transformation of new quality productive forces with innovation: The pilot base project for sci-tech innovation of food ingredients industrialization was officially completed and put into operation

Editor’s Note: At present, the food & beverage industry is stepping into the deep-water area, towards the segments of scenario, emerging industry and customer group. In the context of the “Healthy China 2030” strategy, Chinese consumers are more and more inclined to pay for green and healthy products; they have increasingly higher requirements for flavor and quality; and the concepts of “innovative flavor” and “zero-additive” are favored and sought after by the market. Driven by people’s pursuit for healthy product, the technological innovation, and the consumer demands, providing food ingredients with unique flavors and clean label solutions has become a general trend to break through the industry barrier and meet the diversified needs of flavor and taste. 

In recent years, Huabao Flavours & Fragrances Co., Ltd. (“Huabao” or “Company”) have embraced and integrated into the changes. We adhere to the long-term value doctrine of sustainable development, and grasp the development opportunity of “Healthy China” Initiative to firmly and vigorously promote strategic transformation, systematic reshaping, and overall restructuring, actively explore the layout of emerging fields, comprehensively facilitate the sci-tech innovation and rapid development in the food sector, especially in the field of food ingredients, build a new competitive development advantage based on our mission of “green, nutritious and healthy”, and accelerate the transformation of new quality productive forces and sustainable development. Recently, our pilot base project for sci-tech innovation of food ingredients industrialization has been completed, and successfully been granted the relevant SC food production license, and then officially put into production, marking a solid and critical step for the Company to explore a new path of industrial transformation in the field of food ingredients.

Industry upgrading| take imperative actions to build the industrialization base of food ingredients

It is the Company’s top-level design and key measures to achieve industrial transformation to vigorously develop the food ingredients business. Since the establishment of Huabao Scientific Innovation Center, we have continuously explored the innovation of food ingredients, and up to now have identified flavor food ingredients as one of the main development directions. By combining flavors (fragrances, natural plant extracts, enzymatic hydrolysates, etc.) with ingredients (syrups, juices, milk, fats, etc.), we create flavor food ingredients products for catering customers (such as freshly made tea and coffee), as well as food industry customers (such as beverage, dairy, bakery, etc.), thus conforming to customers’ requirements for clean labels while meeting their needs for flavor and taste.

For a long time in the past, the Company has accumulated many years of technical precipitation such as enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation, and natural products in the food ingredients field. To support the Company’s transformation development and the top-level design of sci-tech innovation, meet the needs of flavor product upgrading and expand the market of food ingredient products, the Company has immediately rolled out a plan to establish an industrialization base with production qualification compliance, pilot and small-scale production capacity, supply level for initial market expansion, coverage of multiple categories of food ingredient product lines. In 2023, we started the pilot base project for sci-tech innovation of food ingredients industrialization. We spent one year in completing the project, and successfully obtained the relevant SC food production license recently.

Productivity improvement| build a production line when maturing a new product

We adhered to the principle of “building a production line when maturing a new product” and constructed the food ingredients industrialization base by steps. At present, we are mainly engaged in the production of two series of products: the plant extract and the flavor syrup, specifically including tea beverages (tea concentrates; tea drinks), fruit and vegetable juice (pulp) drinks (fruit and vegetable juice drink thick liquid), other drinks (coffee drinks; plant-based beverages; flavored drinks).

At present, Huabao is in a new cycle of leapfrog growth. The Company is returning to the strategic basis of high-quality development, grasping the major opportunities for the development of new quality productive forces, to break new ground with the transformation and upgrading of food ingredients. Therefore, we build the production workshop and supporting facilities to gain the capacity for initial industrialization, and provide production and supply capacity for the industrialization and market exploration of innovative food ingredients products. We will also accumulate experience for building future large-scale production capacity through the exploration and practice of production technology, equipment, quality control, regulations, and compliance.

In the future, the Company will combine the advantages of Huabao Scientific Innovation Center with the research & development and market advantages of Jiangxi H&K, and continue to promote the green development of technologies, the intelligent development of process, and the innovative development of management. We will take opportunities to realize our ambitions in the field of food ingredients industry, and make greater contributions to the development of “Healthy China”!
