BITC OFFICERS VISIT F&G BOTSWANA (PTY) LTD

13 Oct, 2020 - Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) paid a courtesy visit to F&G Botswana (PTY) Ltd on 13 Oct, 2020. The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) is an organization established by an act of Parliament to become an integrated Investment and Trade Promotion Authority (ITPA) with an encompassing mandate of investment promotion and attraction, export promotion, and development, including management of the Nation Brand. Through its critical role within Botswana’s economy, BITC further encourages domestic investment and expansion, promotes locally-manufactured goods to regional and international markets, contributes towards improvement of the investment climate through policy advocacy, increases citizen participation in the economy and creates sustainable job opportunities.

The BITC team was comprised of Mr Gaorekwe Gaorekwe and Mr Kebaswele Kebaswele (Business Services Manager) whilst F&G was represented by Mr Huawen Zhu (General Manager), Mr Ping Liang (Marketing Manager), Mr John Foya (Financial Manager) and Mr Bulayani Fani (Production Manager). The main purpose of the meeting was for BITC to introduce their new Business Services Manager, Mr Kebaswele who will be in charge of helping F&G to run business smoothly. In his introductory speech, Mr Kebaswele promised to assist with issuing a BITC membership certificate and a membership letter so that we have access to all services offered including land allocation, work and residence permits, facilitation of permits, fast tracking of EIA compliance, provision of information on the Botswana Business Climate, regulatory regime and investment opportunities, just to mention a few.

The meeting continued with a video presentation to make the new officer familiar with F&G and Huabao Group. Areas covered included products manufactured, skills transferred to employees, special machinery used, the company’s social responsibilities, compliance with local laws, taxation, team building activities, indigenization plan, production data, imports and exports etc., which all left the BITC officers impressed.

To give the officers a more detailed understanding about our products and the manufacturing process, we took them on a company tour led by Mr Fani. The tour was a success as the new officer could not hide his excitement about the knowledge he had acquired about our unique product. He further thanked us for operating the company in a professional way, for implementing a double-shift tactic in order to cover up for production lost during the lockdown period, and also for going an extra mile to educate and provide all precautions to our employees during this COVID-19 period. The day was wrapped up with a photo shoot to capture and treasure the moment.
